Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "In the morning, while it was still very dark, he got up and went out to a deserted place, and there he prayed" (Mark 1:35). Jesus taught by his words and actions. He went by himself to pray when he was tired, when faced with upcoming trying events, or when he just wanted to be alone in the presence of his Lord. He gave us guidance about what to pray, how to pray, and why to pray, and was very familiar with the Hebrew Scriptures. Thus, if we want to become Jesus' disciple we should follow his model and invest time and emotional energy into prayer, Bible study, and reflection. <>Nourishment For The Spiritual Pilgrimage provides an aid for those who want to participate in the spiritual pilgrimage of becoming a lifelong disciple of Jesus Christ. It offers insight and support for those who daily want to turn their hearts, souls, and minds to God's will in their lives, as they strive to help in bringing about God's kingdom in this present time. There are countless other devotionals, but hopefully this can offer something that many of the others may not, a specific focus on the concept of discipleship.

Sample Book Insights: #1 The fourfold definition of spiritual formation is as a process, of being formed, in the image of Christ, and for the sake of others. It is a process of involvement with God’s gracious work, and it is a rebellion against God’s work that leads to a destructive and dehumanizing emptiness. #2 Scripture reveals that human wholeness is always realized in the act of nurturing one another toward wholeness, whether within the covenant community of God’s people or in the role of God’s people in healing brokenness and injustice in the world. #3 The Christian journey is a process, not a day-by-day experience with its ups and downs, victories and defeats, and successes and failures. It is a process that requires of us a limited involvement of our time and energies. If we do not receive the desired results almost instantly, we become impatient and frustrated. #4 Spiritual growth is similar to physical growth. We do not expect to put an infant into its crib at night and in the morning find a child, an adolescent, or yet an adult. We expect that infant to grow into maturity according to the processes that God has ordained for physical growth.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Prayer is hard. We'd rather be doing something else. Anything really. But God commands us to pray. And to do so continually. We see examples of people praying for a wide range of things in the Bible. Jesus taught his disciples to pray, and that model prayer can become the basis of our prayers too. We need to pray deeper, more fervent prayers. Or, as the Puritans used to say, we need to 'pray until we pray'. We should see prayer as a privilege, not a duty, and certainly not a burden. This devotional offers timeless wisdom and encouragement from Michael Baughen, Alistair Begg, Raymond Brown, David Coffey, Jonathan Lamb, Paul Mallard, Bruce Milne, Calisto Odede and Rico Tice. They focus on sections of Nehemiah, Habakkuk, the Psalms, Daniel, Like, John, Ephesians, Philippians, Thessalonians and James. You will be enthused as you receive fresh insights each day and allow your prayer life to be transformed.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: God is totally faithful. That's right at the core of his character - unlike us, he cannot ever break his word. Knowing that we are firmly held in the grip of God's unending faithfulness is deeply reassuring. And it encourages us to be faithful too. Remembering his grace and goodness, we grow in holiness and Christlikeness. Our aim is to be faithful in the big things, but also in the nitty-gritty of life when nobody is watching. With these Bible teachers alongside us: * Alistair Begg (Psalm 119:97-104) * Michael Baughen (2 Timothy 4:1-22 & Hebrews 3:1 - 5:6) * Tim Chester (Genesis15:1-21 & Revelation 2:18-29) * Malcolm Duncan (1 Thessalonians 2:1-12) * Sinclair Ferguson (2 Timothy 4:9-10) * Jonathan Lamb (Acts 20:17-38) * Peter Maiden (1 Samuel 13:5-14) * Alec Motyer (1 Thessalonians 5:1-28) * Tom Putt (Hebrews 6:11-20) we explore God's faithfulness and our response. This undated 30-day devotional shows how God is faithful to cleanse us from sin, keep us until death and guarantee our eternal destiny. What greater reassurance can we ask for?

It certainly doesn't mean that we'll grow in popularity or assertiveness. But it does mean that we can trust God's character and his Word. Trusted Bible teachers Alistair Begg, Steve Brady, Raymond Brown, Andrew Dow, Jonathan Lamb, Alex Motyer, Hugh Palmer, Vaughan Roberts and Keith Weston unpack this theme. See that God is who he says he is, and that what he says, he means, even on our darkest days. So, even when we suffer, or our prayers appear unanswered, or it feels like God isn't in control, we can still trust him. Our confidence is rock solid, whatever life throws at us.

Book excerpt: In this compelling memoir, author Linda Atnip is contacted by the spirit of her companion animal, Mr. Kiki as he is laid to rest. He informs Linda that she will write a book about their spiritual adventures as humanity now stands at a crossroads and must choose a more sustainable lifestyle. Among the many secrets Mr. Kiki reveals is what happened to him when he died, where he is now, and the type of work he does on the other side. Mr. Kiki's messages from the beyond will comfort anyone who has ever lost a beloved pet. "These 'conversations' are actually lessons the author received from her deceased Pekingese dog and master teacher, Mr. Kiki. After 15 years on the earth plane, Mr. Kiki left his physical body, but made it clear that he and the author had work to do. In Conversations, Linda Atnip asks the questions and Mr. Kiki provides answers. With Mr. Kiki as guide and mentor, they embark on a spiritual journey. Dreams, healing, and the afterlife are just some of the areas the author is curious about. Mr. Kiki describes one of the previous lives they shared: 'We had known each other before in Africa, where we loved the sound of the drum … We have been together before and will be again.'" —Catherine Ferguson, Psychic for Pets and People Featured interview in the June issue of Oracle 20/20 magazine! This knowledge hopefully will find its way into practical applications and educational materials. The potential of this volume is that the contributors have researched food as an addendum of the spiritual experience of food within the context of pilgrimage and faith-based tourism, namely that giving, receiving and sharing promotes respect and understanding. Food can be used simultaneously as an active peace-building tool, to promote inclusion, bridging cultures and harmony at table"--

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book was written to help people grow closer to, and participate more fully in, their personal relationship with God. The road to spiritual maturity is often a long and involved process, which I believe is outlined for us in John’s Gospel. John says at the end of his Gospel in 20:21: “But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.” The life he is talking about is our spiritual life. Our spiritual life starts when we begin to truly believe in Jesus and accept him as our lord and Saviour. It comes to ultimate fulfillment when we cross over from physical death into eternal life in Heaven. In between, is a long and often difficult but rich and involved journey. On this Road to Holiness we learn many things. We learn to give up old ways that are not life-giving, and to adopt a more deeply true spiritual outlook. I believe we go through various stages, that I have outlined in this book and as found in the Gospel. We learn to recognize the presence of the Holy Spirit in our lives, as wonderful new opportunities present themselves. As we grow in our spiritual maturity, we develop new spiritual strength that helps us to overcome a whole variety of obstacles and difficulties that would have previously sent us running for cover. Our ability to love deepens and is enriched so that we can appreciate and enjoy all of God’s creation and creatures in a new way. Spiritual growth may take a lot of work at times, but the rewards are definitely worth the effort. As we gain a solid faith in our own worth in the sight of God, we also begin to participate in the unfolding of the Kingdom of God in our midst. This helps us to discover new ways to prepare for our eventual arrival into the Kingdom of Heaven.
